How to Upload NSFAS Missing Documents?

Published

on

IMPORTANT UPDATE: FAKE REPORTS REGARDING NSFAS UNIVERSITIES ALLOWANCE PAYMENTS FOR SEPTEMBER

Mistakes happen. While you should do your utmost to ensure that your NSFAS application is 100% complete, including all required supporting documents, when you submit it, it is possible to miss something. Or the NSFAS may ask you to add something else to your application. If you need to add missing documents to your NSFAS applicationthis year, don’t worry- it can be done. Here’s what to do.

How Do I Upload NSFAS Missing Documents

To upload missing documents on NSFAS, log in to your My NSFAS account on the NSFAS website.

  • Navigate to ‘Track Funding Progress’ from the top menu
  • Click on the ‘Missing Documents’ link under the ‘Tasks’ section
  • You will be directed to a page showing the list of missing documents that need to be uploaded. Click on the ‘Upload’ button next to each document that is missing
  • Choose the document from your computer or device and upload it. Make sure that the document is in the correct format and size as specified
  • Once you have uploaded all the missing documents, click on the ‘Submit’ button

Your application status will now show as ‘Pending’ while NSFAS verifies the uploaded documents. Make sure to upload all the required missing documents within the specified deadline to avoid any delays or cancellation of your funding. If you have any questions/concerns regarding the document upload process, you can also contact the NSFAS contact centre via 08000 67327 or email info@nsfas.org.za for assistance.

How do I Email NSFAS for Missing Documents?

While it is considerably easier to manage the upload of your missing documents via the My NSFAS portal, you can also email them your documents. Don’t use the normal email- you need missingdocuments@nsfas.org.za! Send the email with the following information:

  • Subject line: Missing Documents (unless you are given a reference number to use)
  • Include your full name and ID number
  • Be clear about what documents were missing and need to be submitted so they can track what the documents refer to
  • Attach the missing documents in the correct format and size as specified
  • Add any other relevant information or questions you may have regarding the missing documents

You must ensure that all the required information and attachments are included in your email to avoid any delays or misunderstandings. You can expect a response from NSFAS within a few business days. If you do not receive a response, you can contact the NSFAS contact centre at 08000 67327 for further assistance.

How Long Does it Take for NSFAS to Verify Documents?

Typically, it will take anywhere from a few days to a few weeks for NSFAS to verify your documents. During peak application periods (like the start of the academic year), the verification process may take longer. This is why you should always apply as early as possible, giving you more time to sort out administrative issues. You only have 30 days once the ‘missing documents’ status is applied to your application to remedy the matter, so don’t delay and ensure you re-submit the missing documents as soon as you can.

Does NSFAS Need Certified Documents for 2023?

NSFAS will require certified copies of certain documents for the 2023 application cycle. This is to ensure that the information provided in the application is accurate and authentic. The requirement for certified documents was removed under the pandemic lockdowns, but this has once again fallen away.

Certified documents are copies of original documents that have been verified and signed by a Commissioner of Oaths, such as a police officer, lawyer, or school principal. The Commissioner of Oaths confirms that the copies are true copies of the original documents.

The following documents will need to be certified for your NSFAS application:

  • Identity document or passport
  • Proof of income of parent/guardian
  • Matric or equivalent qualification certificate
  • Academic transcripts (for post-matric applicants or existing students)
  • Proof of registration from the institution
  • Any other documents requested by NSFAS

It is important to ensure that the certified copies of the documents are clear, legible, and in the correct format and size as specified. Failure to provide legible certified copies of the required documents may result in delays or rejection of the application.

While it is rather easy to upload missing documents to NSFAS, it is also a time-critical issue. So don’t drag your feet on the matter, or you risk losing your NSFAS bursary opportunity. With only a 30-day window to respond once they let you know a document is missing, you don’t have time to waste. And remember- it’s always worth taking the time to double-check your initial application to avoid errors like this. Offering a full and complete application gives you a better chance of having your funding approved, so it’s worth taking the time to be thorough. Remember, the call centre will always help if you need clarification on acceptable documents.
