Role Overview: As a New Connections Officer, you will play a vital role in processing viable quotations and managing confirmed new connections and billable services on the management information system (MIS). You’ll directly assist customers both in-person and over the phone, providing them with valuable information on new connections and other billable services.
Responsibilities at a Glance:
Receive and review detailed documents related to new connections, including deed of transfer, Surveyor General Diagram (SG), site development plan, and rational fire design, primarily via email from the City of Johannesburg.
Handle valid provision of services (new connections, move meter, raise/lower manhole) that have been duly paid for.
Generate and complete works orders based on validated information from job cards.
Address customer inquiries and requests both in-person and telephonically.
Utilize orthographic and other plans to advise customers on suitable locations and availability for connections.
Collaborate with the Customer Care section to address information management issues.
Maintain proper filing of all relevant documents within the department’s filing systems.
Provide support to the New Development Manager as needed.
Job Requirements: To be considered for this role, you should meet the following qualifications and experience:
Possess a Grade 12 qualification with a focus on Maths and Science or N3 Technical Studies (NQF 4).
Bring at least 2 years of experience in water and sanitation operations and maintenance, along with proficiency in GIS and SAP.
