Key Requirements:

  • High school diploma (Proof to be attached)
  • Valid Level 2 First Aid & CPR certificate
  • Valid Lifeguard Certification
  • Willingness to undergo fitness and swimming evaluations
  • Ability to complete a 2-minute water treading test
  • Proficiency in swimming 100 meters in under 2 minutes
  • Strong communication and organizational skills
  • Sober habits and good health
  • Proficiency in at least two (2) of the three (3) official languages of the Western Cape

Key Responsibilities: As a Lifeguard, your role will include:

  • Maintaining vigilant surveillance of swimmers
  • Ensuring accurate headcount of pool attendees
  • Alerting individuals venturing too far or in danger
  • Supervising swimmers according to safety protocols
  • Identifying and addressing potential hazards
  • Responding promptly to emergencies, including drowning incidents
  • Providing first aid and CPR when required
  • Conducting pool chemical checks for safety and hygiene
  • Keeping accurate records of pool usage and chemical levels
  • Safely storing pool equipment
  • Assisting with event preparations and galas
  • Flexibility to work outside regular hours

Nedbank YES Programme is a business-led collaboration with government to reduce unemployment by giving our youth an opportunity to develop new skills and gain meaningful workplace experience, which will improve their chances of finding long-term future employment significantly. 

This is a 12-month contract opportunity which offers a stipend of R4407 monthly. Upon completion you will also receive a certificate of completion and a reference letter for your future work prospects.
