The South African Weather Service (SAWS) invites unemployed graduates to apply for Internship Programme 2023 / 2024

The South African Weather Service (SAWS) is offering a golden opportunity for high-achieving graduates to embark on a journey in the world of meteorology. About SAWS:

SAWS is a Section 3(a) public entity operating under the Ministry of Water and Environmental Affairs. It’s more than just predicting the weather; it’s an authoritative voice in weather and climate forecasting in South Africa and is a member of the World Meteorological Organization (WMO), adhering to international meteorological standards. As an Aviation Meteorological Authority, SAWS plays a crucial role in providing weather services to the aviation industry, marine sector, and various other clients, fulfilling government’s international obligations.

Internship Details:

  • Internship Fields: Research Department
  • Qualifications: Applicants must have an appropriate Bachelor’s degree in fields such as Atmospheric Physics, Electrical Engineering, Applied Mathematics, Energy Studies, or related disciplines.

  • Total Package: SAWS offers a monthly stipend of R6,500.00

Internship Conditions:

  • Successful candidates are responsible for their accommodation and transport.
  • Completion of the internship program does not guarantee employment by SAWS.

Requirements:

Applicants must meet the following criteria:

  • Attach a transcript of the relevant tertiary qualification (Degree/Bachelor of Science) related to the specified fields.
  • Be a graduate or have experienced unemployment after completing a tertiary qualification.
  • Be within 18-35 years of age.

INSTRUCTIONS: 

Graduates must be: South African citizens between the ages 18 and 35. Completed a National Diploma, Btech/ Advanced Diploma/ Post Graduate Diploma  and Degree in the above-mentioned disciplines. Applicants, who have been participated in the internship programme will be disqualified. NOTE: Applications must be clearly marked by quoting the Relevant Division and Reference Number for your application.

Applications must be directed to HR Manager, combined as one document and accompanied by comprehensive CV, application letter indicating the  relevant division and reference number for your application, certified copies of qualifications and certified ID. Only combined PDF documents will  be considered for each position. 

Successful candidates will be required to enter into an Internship Agreement with the SADPMR. The SADPMR is under no obligation to employ  the intern on completion of the programme. The SADPMR will pay a monthly stipend.
