How To Track Sassa Grant Application For September 2023

Sassa Status Check 3

Every month, the state provides financial assistance to millions of South Africans through various types of grants. If you have applied for an SASSA grant for the month of September, you should keep track of the status of your application.

The South African Social Security Agency (Sassa) provides beneficiaries with a number of permanent grants. These long-term grants include Older Person grants, Disability grants, War Veterans grants, Care Dependency grants, Foster Child grants, Child Support grants, Child Support grant Top Up grants, and Grant-in-aid grants.

In addition to these permanent grants, the agency provides an R350 Social Relief of Distress (SRD) grant to South Africans who are unemployed and have no source of income.

Permanent grant applications can be submitted at the Sassa office closest to the applicant’s residence. Online applications for Older Person grants, Child Support grants, and Foster Child grants are also available.

Unless the application is done online, all Sassa grant applications are completed in the presence of a Sassa official.

Checking your Sassa status is critical to ensuring that you receive the benefits to which you are entitled and to staying informed of any changes, updates, or the need for additional information.

Monitoring the Status of Your Permanent Grant Application

When you submit a grant application, Sassa will provide you with a reference number or a receipt. When you submit all of the required documents, your grant application is considered complete.

Sassa advised grant applicants to keep the reference number/receipt as it is the only proof that a grant application was submitted. They can use this reference number to inquire about the status of their grant application.

Grant applicants can contact Sassa at 080060 10 11 or via email at grantenquiries@sassa.gov.za.

If your grant application is approved by Sassa, you will begin receiving grant payments from the date you submit your completed application. If you applied for the Foster Care Grant, it will be paid from the date of the court order.

If your grant application was denied,

If Sassa approves your grant application, you will begin receiving grant payments from the date you submit your completed application. If you applied for the Foster Care Grant, it will be paid to you beginning on the date of the court order.

If your grant application was rejected, you must be informed in writing of the reason for the rejection. Grant applicants who are unsuccessful have the right to appeal Sassa’s decision to reject their grant application.

How To Check The Status Of A R350 Grant Sassa

Online Sassa Status Check

  • Go to the SASSA SRD grant website
  • Scroll down to ‘Application status’
  • Click on ‘Click here to check online’
  • Fill in the required fields
  • You should then be able to see the status of your R350 grant application

WhatsApp Status Check

  1. Make a note of the Sassa WhatsApp number: 082 046 8553.
  2. Open WhatsApp and send a message to the Sassa number that begins with “Status” and ends with your ID number.
  3. Sassa will then provide you with the necessary information regarding the status of your application.

If applicants need help tracking their applications’ status, they can call the Sassa call center at 0800 601 011.

SASSA’s New Payment Requirement

SASSA has announced that some SRD grant recipients will be subjected to biometric identity verification. This is part of the effort to ensure that money is paid to individuals who meet the SRD grant eligibility criteria.

Sassa will use facial recognition to confirm the identity of SRD grant recipients. To complete the facial recognition process, beneficiaries may need to have a working camera on their mobile phone.

The biometric identity verification applies to all applicants who received a referred SRD status, as well as beneficiaries who want to update their mobile numbers.
