sassa payment dates r350

Sassa payment dates r350:It is critical for social grant recipients to understand when the South African Social Security Agency will pay out their funds. As a result, the government agency has issued a grant payment schedule.

The South African Social Security Agency (Sassa) distributes various social grants to millions of people on a monthly basis.Sassa already has a payment schedule in place to ensure that social grants are paid to the correct person on time. However, the government agency clarified in a statement:

There is no fixed payment date for sassa payment dates r350

While many people have been approved for grant payments, Sassa has reminded SRD grant recipients who have received payment dates to collect their funds when they receive an SMS.

sassa payment dates r350

Check your Sassa status if you are unsure whether you have been approved for payment.

This SMS, according to the Sassa, will contain a voucher number from their chosen bank. Clients who have not yet received their payment dates have been reminded that the absence of dates indicates that the payment has not been processed, but grant payments will be processed in due course.

President Cyril Ramaphosa revealed that the SRD grant is currently benefiting over 7 million people.Since its inception, the grant has gone through a number of changes, including new qualifying criteria, improved systems, and several extensions.

However, Ramaphosa has assured current SRD grant recipients that they will continue to receive financial assistance from the government until March 2024.Some lobbying groups believe that financial assistance is even more critical now that the pandemic’s aftermath is still present. They have also requested that the government find a way to make the grant permanent.

How does the SRD grant’s financial assistance benefit recipients?

Some argue that the variety of social grants is transforming South Africa into a welfare state.

According to new research from the University of Cape Town, this grant may have actually increased grant recipients’ chances of finding work.According to Tim Kohler, a co-author and UCT researcher, the SRD grant improved recipients’ labor market outcomes by 3%, and these improvements were identified during the lockdown period.According to Social Development Director General Linton Mchunu, the number of beneficiaries receiving grants has decreased, and 10% of SRD grant beneficiaries have migrated into employment.

How To Apply For Sassa Grants

Social grants play a crucial role in ensuring that South Africans who have no other means of making an income can carry on without being heavily impacted by poverty. There are currently more than 18 million people who depend on permanent social grants.

These social grants are administered by the South African Social Security Agency. They include the child support grants, older persons grants, disability grants, war veterans grants, care dependency grants, grants in aid and  foster child grants

Sassa also administers the Social Relief of Distress grant on a temporary basis, putting a lot of emphasis on ensuring that applicants meet the eligibility requirements for these grants before processing them.

How Sassa Determines Eligibility For Social Grant

The agency does this by conducting means tests to determine if an applicant’s alternative source of income or assets exceed their specified threshold. It is worth noting that being employed does mean an applicant is not eligible for a social grant.

However, the outcome of the Sassa means test must reflect that an applicant has very limited sources of income or assets based on their income eligibility criteria as listed below.

Here are the Sassa income means test requirements:

  • Older persons, Disability, and War Veteran’s grant: Not earn more than R 92 520 a year (R7 710 a month) if you’re single. If you are married, your combined income shouldn’t be above R185 040 a year (R15 420 a month).
  • Child support grant: Not earn more than R57 600 a year (R4 800 a month) if you’re single. If you are married, your combined income shouldn’t be above R115 200 a year (R9 600 a month).
  • Care-dependency grant: Not earn more than R 238 800 a year (R19 900 a month) if you’re single. If you are married, your combined income shouldn’t be above R477 600 a year (R39 800 a month).
  • Foster child grant: No Means Test Conducted.
  • R350 SRD Grant: Individuals with a monthly income of more than R624 a month will not qualify for the grant.

How To Apply For A Sassa Grant

Provided that you qualify for the permanent social grant, you can submit your application at your nearest Sassa office branch. You can also nominate someone to apply on your behalf if you are unable to do so due to illness or old age.

Applicants also have the option to arrange a home visit by a Sassa official to assist with their grant application if they are unable to do so for the above-mentioned reasons. The Sassa official will assist with completing the application forms after which they will then provide a receipt as proof of the application.

You can also apply online using the Sassa website.

How To Submit Your Online SASSA Application

Should you want to submit a SASSA grant application for one of these grants, you will first need to create an online SASSA account.

When you’re done, you then need to visit the SASSA services page and click on ‘Apply for a grant’. You will then need to follow the prompts to complete your application, which includes providing your mobile number, your South African ID number and your banking details, to get your grant money directly deposited to you.

It can take up to 3 months for Sassa to process social grant applications, but if the application is successful, the first payment will be made from the date on which the application was submitted.

If the application is unsuccessful Sassa will provide reasons in writing for the rejection. You can then lodge an application appeal within 90 days of being informed of this.
