Position: Senior Court Interpreter (x4 Positions) Salary Range: R294,321 – R343,815 per annum. The successful candidates will also be expected to enter into a performance agreement.

  2. Magistrate, Uitenhage – Reference No: 81/23EC (Re-advertisement – re-submission required for previous applicants)
  3. Magistrate, Queenstown – Reference No: 82/23EC
  4. Magistrate, Port Elizabeth – Reference No: 87/23EC (Re-advertisement – re-submission required for previous applicants)

Minimum Requirements:

  • Grade 12 with a minimum of 10 years of practical Court Interpreter experience, OR
  • Grade 12 with a National Diploma: Legal Interpreting at NQF level 5, or equivalent tertiary qualification at NQF level 5, and a minimum of 3 years of practical Court Interpreter experience.
  • Proficiency in English and proficiency in two or more indigenous languages (priority given to languages used in the respective area and sign language).
  • Valid driver’s license (an added advantage).
  • Essential Skills and Competencies: Strong written and verbal communication, interpersonal skills, attention to detail.

Responsibilities: As a Senior Court Interpreter, you will be responsible for:

  • Providing interpretation services for both Criminal and Civil cases in court.
  • Assisting in interpreting confessions, commissions, tribunals, and family law matters.
  • Translating legal documents and exhibits for court use.
  • Handling more complex cases as required.
  • Fulfilling any other duties assigned in accordance with office rationalization.
